“I wish I were with you right now so I could change my tone. But at this distance I don’t know how else to help you.” Galatians‬ ‭4‬:‭20

Do you ever wish God would just send a text message, or better yet FaceTime you?

Ever wish you could sit down at a coffee shop and just share your heart. To be able to look into his eyes and hear his voice and see his body language.

How reassuring that would be I think. It wasn’t really that long ago that distant communication was by letters and snail mail.

Paul’s love for the Galatian Christians ran deep. He’d poured his life into them. He prayed with them, cried with them and endured many of the same struggles they endured.

Now, they were selling themselves out to a cheapened grace. A grace built on rules and activity.

I hear in his voice the same emotions Jesus felt on a hillside outside Jerusalem as he wept for his people and longed to be able to gather them as a hen gathers her chicks into the safety of her wings.

We can hear the voice of God today. Most times it’s not an audible one, but his words can leap out of the pages of the Bible or be the small nudging of the heart in tune with His Spirit.

A friend recently cancelled a much deserved trip because the Spirit nudged him during prayer. A few weeks later, while he was still longing to go to warmer climate and questioning the nudging, he got his answer. But he had to be open to the nudging to see that answer.

What is God nudging you to do?

Do it.‬
