Have you ever looked at someone else and wished you could be like them? When we were young we had our heroes. Those we idolized as being bigger than life itself. As we grew older we realized they were just people, but our desire to be like others, to have what they have, to be able to do what they do never dies. Comparison is a lion waiting in the shadows to attack when we least expect it. Pastor and author Steven Furtick writes, “The reason we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind-the-scenes with everyone else’s highlight reel.” The only standard we need to measure up to is God’s standard and we will never do that outside of Christ. Don’t strive for the accolades of men. Rejoice in the fact that you are his masterpiece and he will strengthen you to be what he’s created you to be. Then do everything for HIS glory!
