We spend so much time looking for inner peace. Inner peace is essential for our feeling of self-worth and value. But our searching for inner peace is futile as long as we search for it in external places. We seek stability in relationships but people fail us. We seek passion in porn but that is passion that leaves us empty and seeking more. We seek security in finances and careers but they fail. We seek strength in healthy living but everyone dies eventually. Only Jesus gives us the inner peace and sense of value we crave.

It’s not about you! The disciple of Christ is always more concerned about others than they are their own comfort. Self serving attitudes open the door for Satanic attack. Love and humility are walls of protection.

These words of Paul summarize a lengthy discourse on how the believer lives in relationship. He starts by telling us to live in submission to one another. The result of living submissively (humbly) is Godly power and strength to conquer the challenges before us.

Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

(Psalm 51:10-12, NIV)
