‘But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. ‘ 1 Peter 2:9

Who Are You?

I attended a book study one time on the book, “Boundaries.” We started the study with the facilitator asking that question that we all hate to hear, “Who Are You?”

Now, it’s easy to look at our drivers license and answer that question. But in reality that’s who the state thinks you are.

We can look at your birth certificate but that just tells us our parents, our name, etc.

And so the list goes on. Some choose their identity by their career, something they have worked on for years and may find it unsatisfying.

Others choose their identity from the relationships they have. Having a good house, a nice car, an attractive spouse and star athletes/students as children are important to them.

Some identify by their religion. (I’m a Baptist, Lutheran, Catholic, Muslim, etc.) But religion doesn’t satisfy and leaves you hanging.

The problem with each of these identity factors is they are based on life. The death rate among humans is 100%. Every one dies.

On the physical side we fighting what seems to be an eternal pandemic, natural disasters and climactic changes.

Our society is plagued right now with fear, doubts, division, anger, hatred and racism of every kind.

So our identity has to come from something that lasts. Something that can rise above life situations.

Jesus Christ came to help us rise above the difficult circumstances of our lives. He has promised us new life.

Some may argue with me and say that they know Christians and they want no part of Jesus Christ. The problem I have with that is you may be placing your faith in people, not the person of Jesus Christ.

If you are struggling with life-questions. If you are near the breaking point because of fears, doubts, or any other issue, let me offer faith in Jesus as your identity.

If you have further questions on who you are or what faith in Jesus means, I’d love to communicate with you.

If you made a decision for Jesus years ago but have strayed and can’t find your way back, He’s more that willing to welcome you with open arms.
